The Committee and Stewards of the Delhi Race Club (1940) Ltd., have decided to accept Sponsored Races. If the Necessary response is forthcoming, sponsorship of races from business firms and individuals would there fore be welcomed. In various progressive racing countries, more so in the U.K.,France and Ireland, Racing authorities, over the past years, have welcomed the running of sponsored races. The idea of a sponsored race is as follows:-A Manufacturer, firm or any individual is given the opportunity of advertising thegoods manufactured and sold by them by having such a sponsored race named after the firm or the goods to be sold or in any other name desired by the sponsor. The amount of money provided by the sponsor is added with the entrance money collected from all owners of horses that enter for that particular race in order to make such a race attractive, interesting and lucrative. The impact of theprestige and publicity value to the sponsors of such a race would be immense as compared to other advertising media, as racing not only gates a very wide coverage in the daily press in India and abroad, but also the race attracts a very wide cross-section and the public in general. The terms and conditions by which these races will be governed are as under:-1. The sponsor will have to pay either the whole of the added monies or such large amount as they may wish or such amount as may be agreed to between the Club and the sponsor.2. Sponsor will have to pay their contribution at least one month before the date of the actual running of the race.3. Sponsored races will be run only as Sweepstakes races and the right to frame the terms of such races will lie with Stewards of the Delhi Race Club (1940) Ltd.4. Sponsored races will not be divided and if there are more than the requisite number of runners the horses will be balloted out as per the General Conditions printedin the prospctus. The following facilities will be available to those firms sponsoring a race:-1. The Managing Director or senior representative of the firm or such person as the firm may desire will be entitled to present the Trophy in the paddock to the owner of the winning the sponsored race.2. The firm will be allowed to advertise their wares at appropriate places on the race course. The impact of the visual publicity would be great as a large number of people attend the races.3. Free admission to the enclosures on that race day will be given to 20 members of the firm. A private box will be reserved for their use and free tea and refreshments will be given to them and their selected guests on that day.Enquiries in this connection may kindly be directed to the Hon.Secretary,Delhi Race Club (1940)Ltd , New Delhi- 110 003.Fax 011 2301 1601,23015835 E-mail drcracing1940ltd@yahoo.com
